Australian violinist Ray Chen was the First Prize Winner of the 2009 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition of Belgium, as well as the 2008-09 YCA International Auditions and the Ronald A. Asherson First Prize. He plays the Macmillan, a 1721 Antonio Stradivarius violin on loan to him through Young Concert Artists. In 2008 he made his debut in Russia, playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the Mariinsky Orchestra.
Cheryl Barker has established a distinguished opera and concert career throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Australia. She is particularly noted for her interpretations of Puccini’s heroines, as well as the works of Janacek, Strauss and Verdi. Recent and future plans include performances for Opera Australia (Rusalka, Arabella, Manon Lescaut, Marschallin), Netherlands Opera (Emilia Marty), Bastille/Paris (Butterfly) and English National Opera (Miss Jessel). She holds an honorary Doctorate of Music/VCA.
Tony Gould piano / composer / improviser is one of Australia's most respected musicians. His career has embraced many styles of music, not least jazz and other improvisatory musics in addition to traditional and contemporary classical musics. He gives many concerts each year and for fifty years he has been involved in an extraordinary number of recording projects both as pianist and composer and has been at the forefront of music education in Australia via various tertiary institutions in Melbourne and throughout Australia.
Wilma Smith violin is Concertmaster of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster Emeritus of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. She is a prominent chamber music player in Australia and abroad.
Roger Jonsson violin holds the position of Deputy Concertmaster with Orchestra Victoria. Originally from Sweden he has also worked with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Orchestra.
Simon Oswell viola is currently Principal Viola of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra as well a having an active solo and chamber music career. He has appeared as Guest Principal Viola with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
